OUR VINEYARDS

The microclimate characteristics of Ca' Montalbano Vineyards are unique to the wine country of Romagna Territory.  The high altitude (381 meters on the sea level), helps the grape vines to grow in cold winters and hot dry summers, allowing the harvest period to be forwarded to the end of summer long dry days of sun exposure.

MINERALITY OF THE ROMAGNA SOIL

Nestled in the majestic mountains of Romagna lies a hidden secret: the special clay soil rich in minerality that imparts a unique character to the region's wines. This terroir, blessed with a perfect balance of nutrients and drainage, bestows upon the grapes a purity and depth that are unparalleled. The wines born from this ancient land are not just beverages; they are timeless expressions of the earth itself, destined for vintage aging and coveted by modern collectors. Each bottle is a testament to the richness of Romagna's soil and the craftsmanship of its winemakers, offering an exquisite taste of tradition and innovation in every sip.

In the heart of Romagna mountains, Ca’ Montalbano vineyards thrive in the embrace of fertile soil enriched with a deep clay presence and a wealth of minerals. It is this unique terroir that bestows upon our wines their distinctive, intense earthy notes, setting them apart from the rest. Here, amidst lower temperatures than valley vineyards, our grapes ripen slowly, allowing for a depth of flavor and complexity that is unparalleled.

GENERATIONS OF WINE TRADITION

Embedded in the fabric of Ca' Montalbano's winemaking heritage is a rich tapestry of tradition that spans generations. Rooted in our commitment to excellence and stewardship of the land, each harvest at our vineyards is a testament to our unwavering dedication to quality. From the earliest days of cultivation, our grapes are handpicked with meticulous care, ensuring that only the finest specimens are selected to grace our wines. Our approach to viticulture is defined by an ethos of early harvesting, allowing our grapes to reach optimal ripeness while retaining their natural acidity and flavor profile. This slow, deliberate process is a labor of love, a reflection of our respect for the rhythm of nature and the nuances of each growing season.

NATURAL GROWTH AND SUSTAINABILITY

Central to our winemaking philosophy is a deep-rooted belief in the importance of natural growth and sustainability. Our vineyards are nurtured with minimal intervention, with low pesticide usage and a commitment to abstain from spraying harmful chemicals. Instead, we embrace organic and biodynamic practices, fostering biodiversity and harmony within the ecosystem. This holistic approach not only preserves the integrity of our soil but also ensures the health and vitality of our vines for generations to come.

As guardians of this time-honored tradition, we understand that great wine is not simply made—it is cultivated with patience, passion, and an unwavering dedication to craftsmanship. Each bottle that bears the Ca' Montalbano label is a testament to our heritage, a reflection of the land from which it springs, and a promise of uncompromising quality. In a world where mass production and shortcuts abound, we remain steadfast in our commitment to the slow, deliberate process of winemaking, producing wines that are not only exceptional but truly timeless.

Between the sandstone and the soils, fertile substrate makes our vineyards compatible with a conscious and careful harvest. Today, after more than 40 years of research in the cellar, Our production uses steel vinification at controlled temperatures,  through delicate passages in barrels and respectful refining passages for the liveliness of tannins and a fresh delicate spirit in the wines.  Preserving the characteristic tones of grapes such as Sangiovese, Cabernet, and Chardonnay, which, indicate and promote a modern yet radical approach to viticulture.
